During the First 9 Weeks of school (until the beginning of Oct.) we will be learning about all aspects of Music, but students will be assessed on the following standards-
A. Skills and Techniques/Performance M3GM.1 – Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music a. Sing melodies in the range of an octave using appropriate head voice accompanied and unaccompanied. C. Critical Analysis/Investigate M3GM.6 – Listening to, analyzing, and describing music b. Describe music using appropriate vocabulary (allegro, adagio, forte, piano, upward, downward), appropriate mood, and timbre adjectives. Under Skills a Techniques, I am specifically assessing the student's ability to accurately sing melodies in the range of an octave (do, re mi- all the way to do) using head voice (singing voice that resonates in your head and sinus cavities instead of your chest. In addition to these assessed standards, we will start preparing our music for the 3rd grade Veteran's Day program. I hope that each child participates in the evening program. It is a very special experience for all involved. This year it will be on Thursday, November 3rd. Our 3rd graders are taking a benchmark on test on the Lines and Spaces of the Treble Clef. Here is a photo of Mrs. Crane's class taking the assessment.
The entire recorder order is finally here! I will be passing recorders and books out to students who have ordered them when they come to music.
We will begin to start playing them during our next rotation. Our 3rd graders will all be in the gym for our annual Holiday Music Sing-a-long on Friday Dec. 19 from 1:00-1:45. Parents and community members are invited to join us sing our lil hearts out.
