For the first 9 weeks, I will be teaching from all of the standards, but I will be focusing and assessing the following-
Applies knowledge of music concepts through singing and playing instruments
M5GM.1d M5GM.2d; Performs music; matching dynamics, tempo, phrasing, and interpretation to the cues of a conductor
Reads and notates music
M5GM.3a,b; Reads AND notates melodic AND rhythmic patterns at grade level
Creation and Communication
M5GM.5a; Creates rhythmic AND melodic motives to enhance literature
We will be starting with a patriotic unit where we will learn more about the Star Spangled Banner because it turns 200 this year. We will also be doing an extensive composition unit utilizing the song and literature of Follow the Drinking Gourd.
